Shelter Dinner
To give our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate the chance to have a warm meal, a chance to sit and relax and a chance to enjoy conversation with others is the stewardship opportunity this group offers. We invite everyone to sign up to prepare a dish for the dinner on the first Thursday of every month at the Spooner House in Shelton. On the specific evening, the committee gathers and finishes preparing the meal, serves the meal to our guests and then also relaxes and enjoys the meal and the company of our guests. A wonderful opportunity to brighten someone’s day!

Charity Committee
Helping our brothers and sisters in time of need is the theme of this committee. Throughout the year we collect an assortment of food items as well soaps, shampoo, toothpaste and other personal hygiene belongings for distribution as needed. At Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, special baskets are put together for distribution to those in need.

This committee works at the rectory in teams of two to three people on Sunday mornings after the 8:30am Mass until around 12 noon. Their job is to count and record the offertory envelopes for the weekend and holy days. The teams work one Sunday a month and schedules are sent to members showing 4 months at a time. Knowledge of how to operate a calculator is helpful.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
Our knitters have been making prayer shawls since 2005 and have comforted many people who are ill or grieving with the warmth of these handmade blessed shawls since that time. Shawls have also been donated to the Birmingham Group and Yale New Haven Hospital. If you enjoy knitting, working independently yet part of a group give a call.
