Parish Groups

Shelter Dinner

To give our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate the chance to have a warm meal, a chance to sit and relax and a chance to enjoy conversation with others is the stewardship opportunity this group offers. We invite everyone to sign up to prepare a dish  for the dinner on the first Thursday of every month at the Spooner House in Shelton. On the specific evening, the committee gathers and finishes preparing the meal, serves the meal to our guests and then also relaxes and enjoys the meal and the company of our guests. A wonderful opportunity to brighten someone’s day!

Quilters of St. Augustine
St. Augustine’s quilter’s are a group of dedicated women who gather together to share ideas and talents that result, once a year, in a magnificent queen size quilt and two pillows that are raffled to benefit the church. The group has been meeting for many years and each year the size of the group may fluctuate but the dedication and the enjoyment of each others company is constant. The quilters meet during the day in St. Monica’s Hall in the lower church.
PARISH NURSE PROGRAM
The function of this program is to maintain a level of education and wellness within the parish community, for our young to our elderly. This is established through a variety of educational programs, reading materials, screenings and providing health check-ups performed by medical personnel from the Griffin Hospital. Our two nurses encourage anyone interested in the health field in any capacity to give either one of them a call.

The members of the order still remain true to their founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity today. Our church men belong to the Aurora Council # 53 which is located on Main Street in Seymour. The Knights meet on the second Monday of the month, 7 PM at the Strand Theater.
